Introduce cultural/historical/

political production and reception of odours and aromas.  For example, perfume.

Invite students to recall and/or imagine odours/aromas/smells they experience in the classroom: who/what created these smells through what activities?

Break into pairs:  A is speaker and B is self/listener.  Reverse.  Repeat this exercise using words, images, movement, sounds.

Independent assignment:  Create a smellscape, and bring to class.  Discuss intentions and associations, and how communicated and received by others.
